Should You Buy D2D University?

Should you buy D2D University?

My quick answer on if you should buy D2D University, is yes. You should.

Assuming you’re not a rookie - in my opinion, rookies are better off focusing on their company’s training instead of buying a different program.

If you’ve done door-to-door sales for at least 1 summer and you have goals you want to achieve for your next summer, then D2D University is a great investment for you.

It’s not a perfect program and there are things that I think can make it better, but based on the price point (roughly $1000 when I bought it in 2021) and how much you can earn doing door-to-door sales, the investment makes sense.

If you learn just 1 thing from this course that helps you make a few more sales, then it has already paid for itself.

For example, I learned a few strategies for overcoming objections from Daniel Schofield in D2D University Pest that made this program pay for itself several times over.

I also believe that investing in yourself and putting money on the line helps you as much psychologically as it does informationally.

Investing money in yourself shows:

  1. How committed you are

  2. You’re not like everybody else

Both of those will build your confidence and improve your performance.

If you’re the type of rep who invests in his or herself, then you’re probably the type of rep who reaches their goals.

The only question that remains is, which type of rep are you?

The rest of this article explains more about what D2D University is and my experience with it.

What is D2D University?

D2D University is a series of online courses created by Sam Taggart and his team at The D2D Experts. They offer industry-specific door-to-door sales training.

They have general sales and recruiting courses as well as customized training based on the product you sell, which includes:

The platform offers hundreds of videos filled with expert tips and strategies to master door-to-door selling.

You learn from top experts who share their knowledge on effective sales techniques specifically designed for direct selling in each particular field.

I purchased the pest control version of door-to-door university which features training from pest control experts like:

The content dives into various aspects of door to door sales, including leadership, recruiting, mental toughness, crafting personalized buying experiences, overcoming objections, perfecting your intro, tonality, body language and more. This course will helped you deepen your sales and industry knowledge and will improve the results you get.

My D2D University Review

Overall, I would give D2DU a rating of 4 out of 5 Stars.

There were a lot of things I liked but a few recommendations that would take it to the next level.

One of the parts of D2D University that I appreciated, was Sam Taggart’s training portion going over the fundamentals of door knocking.

Even after having done it for a summer, there were gaps in my training that this section helped to fill.

I liked that they had the top sales people in each field training and providing actionable strategies you can apply on the doors..

D2D University does have a few live pitches but my biggest complaint for the program is I wish they had more live pitches. What would take this course to the next level is showing a principle in action on live doors with real customers right after teaching it.

A lot easier said than done, but that would take the program from 4 to 5 stars for me.

In D2DU Pest version, there’s a lot of great training from Parker Langeveld, but showing a few live examples of Parker implementing the strategies would have cemented the training, and made it that much more valuable.

They did have a few live pitches from Mitch Matthews who is the owner of Anthem Pest. I appreciated that they showed footage of him NOT selling people. Even the best sales people don’t sell everyone and seeing that helped to boost my confidence.

I also don’t love that you lose access to the program after 1 year and would have to pay for it again. I mean I get it, door-to-door guys are probably always sharing their logins with each other but after making the investment, I expected to have kept my access.

But despite these few cons, in my opinion the pros of learning from experts, growing your confidence, and hearing different strategies, tactics, and perspectives outweigh the cons.

What Others are Saying about D2D University

D2D University does have other testimonials to review that I have accumulated here. Take these with a grain of salt as they are put out by The D2D Experts, who own D2D University.

Is D2D University Right for You?

Based on my personal experience with the platform, I would recommend making the investment in most cases, the exception being for rookies, for whom I would recommend focusing on your company’s training.

But if you’re at least a 2nd year rep, investing in D2DU will build your confidence and you will learn sales tactics and strategies that will level up your game.
